Today, I have a simple question for you:
How do you treat yourself when you’re experiencing a stressful time in your life?
Do you create the time and space to slow down, rest, and nourish yourself, even if you have a million things going on?
Do you take the time to check in with yourself, see how you’re feeling, and give yourself what you need to experience more peace and calm?
The truth is, most people tend to neglect themselves, their emotions, and their needs during stressful times, which tends to reinforce and add to their emotional load.
The nervous system then becomes dysregulated, impacting your thinking, emotions, sleep, digestion, and more. This puts your body into a sympathetic response of fight, flight, or freeze, leaving it feeling as though it's under attack.
Some may experience this as overthinking, emotional overwhelm, indigestion, hyper-focusing on your fears, and more.
Can you relate?
You may have learned to cope with this stress by doing more, pushing your emotions down, or staying busy. However, this only acts as a temporary band-aid for the problem.
Today, I’m here to share that there is a different, more effective way to work through the stress and provide you with some straightforward tools to move out of the chaos to become the calm, peaceful observer of the stress storm.
Whether you're undergoing treatment for an illness or simply in a busy season, checking in on your emotional well-being and taking the time to breathe, ground, and give yourself what you need can make a hugely positive impact on your healing process.
It can lead you away from the path of eventual burnout and exhaustion from stress to the path of accessing peace and calm, enhancing your body's ability to heal.
We know that increased stress leads to suppression of immune function, increasing our likelihood of getting sick (or staying sicker longer).
But that doesn’t have to be the case.
Below, I share one of my favorite tools to help process and move through emotions of overwhelm, stress, and anxiety so you can feel better and give your mind and body what they need to feel supported and heal.
In the video below, I explain the CAPE Method which you can use to shift out of anxiety, worry, or stress to experience greater peace and calm in your day to day life.
It’s simple and can help you to feel better and more at ease in your body and mind rather quickly.
Overview of the method:
Calm – Calm your body by taking 2-3 deep breaths.
Awareness – Become aware of and identify what emotion you’re feeling in your body.
Process – Let yourself fully feel through the emotion and let it go.
Environment – Use your environment to reinforce the feeling of peace you want to create.
Calming your nervous system and feeling more at ease in your body and mind doesn’t need to feel complicated or require you to do anything extensive. Simply taking 1-3 minutes to go through the CAPE Method by becoming aware of what you’re feeling, fully feeling it through, and anchoring into peace can completely shift the trajectory of your day and improve your overall health and well being in the long run.
I have a special bonus for you below!
In this video, I am share one more resource to calm your nervous system on the go using a piece of jewelry (yes, jewelry!) It can be used anywhere to calm the body, mind, and emotions easily, effectively, and quickly.
Plus, there’s a special video tutorial on how to use the necklace to access peace and calm when you need it most.
I hope you enjoy!
This piece is called a Komuso. You wear it around your neck, and it looks like a pretty piece of jewelry so discreet that others won’t recognize its power (they may even compliment you for wearing it!)
