The power of being wrong: As a doctor, ‘I was wrong,’ and how unlearning led to holistic healing.

There’s power in being ‘wrong.’

As we’ve been on this journey together over the past few weeks, I’ve been sharing the wisdom of brilliant minds such as Dr. Seyfried and Dr. Pollack on how the body actually heals.

As a young medical student, I went to medical school feeling excited that I would be helping people heal. After many years in that system, I’ve learned that much of what I was taught about how to heal the body is wrong. Now, after leaving that system and exploring how to truly heal the body, I’m honored to teach you the fundamentals of how to heal yourself.

Today, I’m sharing an open and honest solo podcast episode with you that aims to:

  1. Share my current perspective on Western Medicine and what I have been learning and unlearning since beginning this work.
  2. Shift your perspective and understanding of disease.
  3. Synthesize the information I’ve been covering on the podcast over the last few weeks to support your understanding of how the body stays well and heals.

Where Western Medicine Has Gone Wrong

The Western Medical System is just that – a system. It’s a system that is designed to diagnose and treat illnesses using prescription medications. As I have been unlearning much of what I learned in the Western Medicine system, I am uncovering that much of what I was taught was incorrect when it comes to healing the body.

First, we’ve been taught in the Western system to prescribe blanket treatments for different diagnoses, but the truth is that each individual is different; our bodies are different and our mental and emotional dispositions are different. Therefore, the treatment process needs to be more customized for each individual.

In addition, our Western way of living – constantly striving, doing, and busyness is contributing to our sickness as a society. Much of what keeps us healthy has much more to do with ‘being’ than doing as you’ll see below.

Most people don't share this, but while you have a doctor supporting your healing journey, you are the one doing the healing. We have the innate capacity to heal ourselves, and the lens through which we see our healing journey makes a big difference. Have more power in your healing process than you've been taught to believe.

I was also taught that cancer is a genetic condition, but the truth is, it’s not. Cancer is a metabolic condition which means there are many things you can do to prevent it that haven’t been studied. Unfortunately, these things haven’t been studied because there’s no monetary incentive to study these natural, low-cost options.

Luckily, we’ll be exploring these options here as we become Conscious Healers.

Many of these solutions require a shift in perspective and a shift in our everyday lifestyle. As you read and listen to this episode, you can come to your own conclusions.


The Solution to Our ‘Western’ Problem

Everyone’s healing process will look different because we are all different. Still, suppose we can rewire what we consider ‘medicine’ to encompass simple solutions that can profoundly impact our health. In that case, we can change our health narrative from the statistics that are looking grim to statistics that are expansive and life-giving.

In my interview with Dr. Gerald Pollack, he shared that 99.9% of our cells are water, and to maintain the healthy integrity of the cell, the water inside of the cells is ideally structured in a hexagonal form – he calls this EZ water. When the water inside the cell is structured this way, our cells function optimally.

Many factors negatively impact the structure of the water in the cell, creating metabolic stress that leads the cell to flip from normal cellular respiration to fermentation.

What does this mean?

When our cells shift from their normal cellular respiration to fermentation, it creates cellular dysfunction that can lead to diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and more. As Dr. Thomas Seyfried brought our attention to during episode 36, cancer is a metabolic condition, not a genetic condition. This is why a ketogenic diet can be so impactful in healing the body from cancer and other conditions.

Some things that can impact cellular function include not getting enough time outdoors, 5G and radiation from cell phones, lack of meaningful social connection and physical movement, eating too many processed foods and sugars, and more. Many of the lifestyle habits we have in Western society contribute to our poor metabolic conditions.

While this may sound scary, the solution to this problem is very simple.

Activities such as getting outside and getting more sunlight with your bare feet on the ground, getting the vitamins and minerals you need through whole food nutrition, having a low glycemic diet, processing your emotions and past traumas, using infrared saunas, meaningful social connection, and more can help to shift the body’s cells into normal cellular function.

Using these practices helps get the mitochondria, the power source inside of the cell, to function correctly. It ensures you get the proper nutrients into your cells + that you’re getting the proper nutrition for your body to structure the water in your cells so they function correctly.

Structured cells that are functioning properly = optimal, disease-free health.

This concept tied in beautifully with Loren Lockman’s interview on March 5th, where he shared the powerful benefits of water fasting. While many may think water fasting sounds crazy, it’s essential to healing the body.

As Loren shared in the podcast episode, “Only the organism can heal the organism… We heal the body by letting the body heal itself. Fasting is how we get out of the organism’s way so it can cleanse and heal.”

Water fasting helps the body eliminate toxins accumulated throughout your lifetime. As we clear ourselves out and reset our mitochondria, as discussed above, we structure the water in our cells much better.

And again, as we know, properly structured water in our cells = optimal, disease-free health.

Even practicing intermittent fasting can prove beneficial for our bodies. It’s important to have supervision from a trained professional for prolonged water fasting.


Overall, I hope you walk away from today’s episode feeling uplifted and inspired, knowing that healing and staying healthy can be simple. We will continue building on the concepts weekly to empower your ability to heal yourself.
